THIBODAUX, La. – After taking its last series against Lamar University, the Nicholls State University baseball program welcomes Stephen F. Austin for a three-game slate at Ray E. Didier Field.
Friday's game will feature several opportunities for fans to get involved. Nicholls women's basketball will be hosting a crawfish boil fundraiser beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $11, which includes a plate of crawfish, corn, potatoes and sauce.

COLONEL STORYLINES
Nicholls (23-23, 10-11 SLC) is tied with UNO for eighth in the league standings with nine conference contests left to play. The top-eight schools based on conference record qualify for the SLC tournament.

Sophomore hurler
Adam Tarver (7-2, 2.23 ERA) currently ties SFA's Will Vest for the most mound appearances in the conference at 25. The Baton Rouge native also has seven saves which ranks third in the SLC.
Junior infielder
Gage Teer flaunts a team-high .345 batting average and three homers in league play. He and Niehaus tie for the most RBI with 12.
THE OPPONENT
Lumberjacks first baseman Josh Evans has vaulted his way to the top of the conference ranks in batting average (.411) and slugging percentage (.748). Those marks rank fifth and seventh, respectively, in Division I.
Zac Michener has a team-high 58 hits and 44 RBIs. Friday starter Patrick Ledet has accumulated a 5-1 mark in league play.
SFA (25-21, 13-8 SLC) sits in fifth place in the Southland and is 6-4 in its last 10 road games. The Lumberjacks have turned a league-leading 43 double plays this season.
SERIES SUPERLATIVE
This is the first meeting between the two teams since May 2014. Nicholls topped SFA 5-3 twice in the last two outings including a senior day spoiler at Jaycess Field.
