THIBODAUX, La.  – The Nicholls State University women's tennis team has signed Marina Vigil for the 2017 recruiting class, head coach
Greg Harkins announced Wednesday.

"We are delighted that Marina has chosen to join our Colonel family," Coach Harkins said. "She brings national level experience from the tough Spanish circuit and will add depth to a solid recruiting class for the fall. She is a hard-court player and her forehand is her best shot. Her easy going but competitive nature makes her a good fit for the program."

A native of Asturias, Spain, Vigil reached a national ranking on No. 111 and has played at the national level her whole junior career. She captured regional titles for U16 and U18, and posts a Universal Tennis rating of 9.

"My objective is to play at the highest level; work hard, win a lot of matches at Nicholls and get good marks academically," Vigil said.

Vigil joins Anastasia Kuzevanoza for the 2017 recruiting class. In addition to the newcomers, the Colonels return five of their six players from last season.
