HOUSTON – The Nicholls State University soccer squad allowed four second-half goals in a 4-0 upending against Houston Baptist University at Sorrels Field.

Taylor Benoit blanked the Huskies (4-4-1, 3-1 SLC) for the opening half as the Thibodaux native notched four saves in the period and eight total.
HBU broke through in the 48th minute when Whitney Johnson curved a shot into goal from just outside the 18-yard box. Gabby Rodriguez added the second on a deflection in the 54th minute.
In the final 10 minutes of the match, the Huskies tacked on two more goals as Noor Abukishk and Ellee Hall got the best of their one-on-one opportunities.
Nicholls totaled four shots, including one on goal by sophomore
Kristy Helmers.
The Colonels hope to make up some ground in the standings Sunday when they face Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Dugan Soccer Stadium.
