NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Nicholls State University men's basketball team carries a two-game winning streak to William R. Johnson Coliseum where it will face Stephen F. Austin Wednesday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Colonels (8-7, 2-0 SLC) bested their first two SLC opponents for the second consecutive year, outscoring Northwestern State and UIW 24-8 during the first four minutes. Nicholls topped the Demons by 41 points, the program's highest margin of victory in a Southland Conference affair. The Colonels then rolled the Cardinals, 77-60, behind stellar play from freshmen Kevin Johnson and Ryghe Lyons.

Johnson, averaging a team-high 28.7 minutes per game, set career highs in points (15) and rebounds (9). The Thibodaux native boasts the league's best assist-to-turnover ratio at 10:3 (3.3). Lyons, making his sixth straight start, converted a career-high 16 points. He has recorded multiple blocks in five of the last six, including four-plus four times.

Senior Kimani Jackson is shooting a blistering 77 percent (10-13) in conference play, converting his first career double-double (15 points, 12 rebounds) against UIW.

The Lumberjacks (11-3, 0-1 SLC), preseason favorites to win the conference, dropped their opener at Southeastern Louisiana, 73-62. The Lions made a 12-0 run over the final 1:26 to down SFA. The Lumberjacks were led offensively by TJ Holyfield's 17 points.

SFA ranks second in the country in steals per game (12.3) and flaunts the Southland's best field-goal percentage (.492). The Lumberjacks are 8-0 at home this season.
