BATON ROUGE, La. – Senior
Baker Stevenson carded a pair of 70s for the Nicholls State University men's golf team en route to tying for 16th place in the David Toms Intercollegiate, held at the University Club in Baton Rouge.
The three-round event started on Saturday, but the second 18 was suspended due to darkness following a long weather day. The second and third rounds were completed Sunday.
Stevenson opened with a 1-under 70, and after shooting an 81 in the second, finished with another 70 for 221. He led the Colonels with 11 birdies for the event.
As a team, Nicholls finished ninth out of 14 teams with a 298-306-299—903. The Colonels trailed Lamar University by seven strokes for seventh, and Central Arkansas by five. Host LSU won the tournament with a 21-under 843.
Senior
Jack Lee shot a 227 to tie for 36th. He started with a 7-over 79 before firing rounds of 74 to close it out.
Connor Campbell finished a stroke behind (75-77-76), and
Warut Wongrungroj had a 74-76-79—229 in his first action for the Colonels.
Zachary Barrios shot a 239 (80-79-80) for the event.
Along with winning the team crown, LSU posted the top five individual scores. Trey Winstead took medalists honors with a 7-under 209.
UP NEXT
The Colonels head to north Louisiana next Monday (Oct. 15) for the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate. The two-day event will be held at the Squire Creek Country Club and Golf Course in Choudrant.
