THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University women's basketball team looks to continue its win streak as they host the Mississippi Valley State Devilletes Saturday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m. at Stopher Gymnasium.
Nicholls (3-4) has won its last three contests, sweeping the UTEP Thanksgiving Classic and then had a dominating 86-49 win over SUNO in the home opener on Wednesday.
In the victory against SUNO, the Colonels set a season high in assists with 21 and had a season low 11 turnovers.
Cassidy Barrios also had a triple-double notching 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Barrios also had four steals and two blocks in the game.
During the win streak the team has out rebounded opponents and shot over 40 percent from the field.
Barrios has scored 20 points in all but one game this season and averages 20.3 points per game.
Adrian Mann scored a season high 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals against SUNO and is currently third on the team in scoring averaging 6.6 points per game.
Mississippi Valley State (1-5) is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak, with its lone win of the season against Austin Peay. The Devilettes are led by the scoring duo of Kristy Parker and LaKendra Bassett. Parker is averaging 13 points per game and Bassett is averaging 12.7 along with shooting 40 percent from 3-point range on the season.
In the win against Austin Peay, Parker scored 21 points was 6-for-9 from the field and 2-for-3 from 3-point range. Bassett scored 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting.
The Colonels won the game between these two teams last season at Mississippi Valley, 62-57.
