BATON ROUGE, La. – The Nicholls State University men's tennis team headed to the capital city on Friday for a nonconference match against LSU and was handed a 7-0 defeat at the LSU Tennis Complex.
 
The teams played at the indoor facility due to inclement weather. LSU cruised to the victory, winning all six singles matches in straight sets.
 
"The weather forced us to play indoors which changed the dynamics of the play, but the bottom line is, we're playing top-level teams so we can get better and compete at the highest level we can within the conference," said Greg Harkins, Nicholls tennis head coach. "We're learning how to win with a young squad. It doesn't get any easier, but we're going to rally strong. We look forward to playing Abilene Christian on Monday."
 
Nicholls hosts the Wildcats for its Southland Conference opener on Feb. 26. The men's/women's doubleheader against ACU is scheduled for 11 a.m.
