Google Cloud Academic All-District Teams
LAKE CHARLES, La. – Nicholls State University softball pitcher
Megan Landry has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District™ VI Softball Team, presented by CoSIDA, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.
The Academic All-District™ teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Landry, who is one of NCAA's leader in wins with a 22-7 record, holds a perfect 4.0-grade point average as a secondary education – English major. A junior, Landry is the second Colonel under head coach
Angel Santiago to earn the distinction, joining
Hannah Haydel (2016).
A native of Pierre Part, Louisiana, Landry was voted as the 2018 Southland Pitcher of the Year and landed on the All-Southland First Team. After earning honorable mention All-SLC as a freshman, Landry was a third-team member last season and was one of five Colonels this year to be named first team.
A three-time pitcher of the week, Landry ranks 26th in the NCAA in victories while posting a Southland-best 1.94 ERA. She has tossed 169.1 innings in the circle, racking up 124 strikeouts versus just 35 walks. In the nonconference, Landry recorded a no-hitter in the Colonels' 1-0 win over Albany.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.
