NEW ORLEANS - Nicholls State University softball's
Claire Sisco and
Riley Rutherford were named All-Louisiana Second Team while
Molly VandenBout garnered honorable mention as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) announced Tuesday its 2025 collegiate softball awards.
Sisco and Rutherford are the third and fourth Colonels to be named to the All-Louisiana first or second team since 2019.
Erin Krause and
Alexa Poche' were tabbed all-state in 2023.
Sisco received All-Louisiana honors for the first time after posting a .425 batting average, which was the second highest in the state in NCAA Division I. Sisco totaled 68 hits for the season which included 19 doubles, which also tied for most in the state, five triples and one inside-the-park home run. She ranked fifth in the Southland with 50 runs scored, four shy of tying the school single-season record, and added 23 RBIs as the leadoff hitter.
Rutherford earned her first honor after batting .295 with 26 RBIs as the Colonels' primary designated player. The senior ranked 15th in the Southland with 12 doubles and had 26 RBIs for the year. Rutherford racked up 10 multi-hit games and tied the program's single-game record with a 4-for-4 outing.
VandenBout received honorable mention at utility, playing first base while also starting 13 games in the circle. At the plate, she racked up 44 hits for a .301 batting average and ranked 10th in the Southland with 36 RBIs. VandenBout hit a team-high three home runs and finished with 11 in her three-year career. In the circle, she had a team-best 3.74 ERA and notched seven victories and 41 strikeouts in 78.2 innings. She capped her season by being named Southland All-Tournament after going 2-0 with a 0.58 ERA.
A Louisiana Sports Writers Association panel of media and sports publicists selected the All-Louisiana team. The teams include college softball players from NCAA Division I and III, NAIA and junior college.
