THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball team battles Southern University Wednesday at Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The concession stand will feature Weenie Wednesday with $1 hot dogs available. The Colonels (22-27) are 5-0 on Weenie Wednesday and 9-0 at the Did in non-weekend games.
For the second consecutive weekend, Nicholls topped a conference opponent in 2-of-3 games after dropping the series opener.
The Colonels scored 35 runs in their two wins over SFA and hit four homers in Game 2's 22-10 victory. Senior catcher
Kyle Knauth notched six RBis in that contest and was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association and Southland Conference Hitter of the Week on Monday.
This will be the regular season finale for the Jags (9-32). Southern has lost six of its last seven games dating back to April 24 when Nicholls won a 12-3 contest in Baton Rouge.
