DULUTH, Ga. - The Nicholls State University men's golf team carded rounds of 307 and 300 in the opening day of the Autotrader Collegiate Classic and finished the day in 13th place at the Berkeley Hills Country Club.
Heading into Tuesday's final round, Nicholls trails Stetson by 12 strokes for 12th place.
"Not what we hoped for today," said
James Schilling, Nicholls golf head coach. "We were unable to get any momentum in either round. It was a new golf course that we haven't faced before and a different design than what we play at home. We just didn't have our A-game but we'll look to improve tomorrow as we wrap up the fall."
Nils Dobrunz was the top finisher Monday for the Colonels with a 6-over 150. He ended the day with two birdies in his final five holes to shoot a 74 in the second round and is tied for 50th.
Warut Wongrungroj shot an 80-73--153 with
Ben Baker and
Mickael Najmark each totaling a 154.
Connor Campbell rounded out the lineup with a 158.
