BEAUMONT, Texas -- The Nicholls State University volleyball program (10-9, 4-4 Southland) was unable to find a consistent rhythm throughout Saturday afternoon's match at Lamar (7-11, 2-6 Southland), faltering in straight sets to the Cardinals despite close scores in the first (26-24) & third (25-23) periods.
KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS (L 0-3)
-- The Red & Gray bolted out to a quick lead in the first set before a late rally by Lamar saw the Cardinals edge by for the 26-24 win; following a second set loss (25-19), the Colonels went toe-to-toe against the Cardinals throughout the third, dropping four consecutive points late as Lamar clinched the 25-23 victory.

Emily Gauthreaux paced the Colonels on both sides of the court, notching a double-double as she led the team in both kills (11) & digs (13). Fellow sophomore RS
Katie Jones posted the only other double-digit kill mark for the Red & Gray, picking up 10 on the day.
-- Meanwhile, junior S
Meghan Wozniak flew under the radar with a squad-high 30 assists, tallying eight digs & two kills as well.
UP NEXT
With the weekend roadtrip wrapped up, the Colonels turn their attention once again to a pair of back-to-back away matches, traveling south next Thursday evening to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi before heading back north for a contest at Sam Houston State the following Sunday afternoon.
