HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- The Nicholls State University volleyball program (10-11, 4-6 Southland) wrapped up the team's longest roadtrip of the season -- four matches -- Saturday afternoon against Sam Houston State (12-10, 8-2 Southland), dropping the contest in straight sets to a competitive Bearkats squad at the Johnson Coliseum in Huntsville, Texas.
KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS (L 0-3)
-- The Bearkats offensive engine revved early as SHSU grabbed a quick lead the first set behind a 25-12 mark. The second proved much tighter, though, as the Red & Gray battled to a 21-21 tie before the Bearkats managed to pull away, eventually scoring a 25-22 victory. Sam Houston State closed out the sweep with another strong showing in the third set, claiming the win on a 25-11 final score.

Meghan Wozniak served as the lone bright spot for the Colonels, posting team-highs in both assists (15) and digs (13) as she picked up yet another double-double.

Emily Venable tallied double-digit digs for the 17th time this season, notching 11 on the day.
UP NEXT
After a lengthy four-match roadtrip covering two weekends, the Colonels return to Thibodaux for a three-game set on their own court, hosting Central Arkansas on Halloween Night before facing Northwestern State & New Orleans in early November.
