THIBODAUX, La. -- The Nicholls State University volleyball program (10-12, 4-7 Southland) was unable to find a consistent offensive rhythm in the team's first of a three-match home stand, dropping a straight sets contest to Central Arkansas (11-13, 5-6 Southland) on Thursday evening at Stopher Gym in Thibodaux, La.

KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS (L 0-3)
-- Despite the Colonels maintaining a close presence throughout all three sets, the Sugar Bears managed to pull away late in each, picking up a two-set advantage behind 25-20 scores in the first & second before claiming the match victory in the third behind a 25-17 final tally.
-- Sophomore OH Emily Gauthreaux served as the lone Colonel in double-digit kill range -- racking up 11 on the night -- while also contributing seven digs & two service aces.
-- Working in tandem with Gauthreaux on the offensive end was junior S Meghan Wozniak, who recorded 34 assists on the night with six digs of her own.
-- Defensively, senior L Emily Venable led the way behind her 11 digs.
-- Fellow senior OH Jennifer Olivarez saw late action in the match, posting an impressive .625 hitting percentage behind her five kill, zero error performance. For her career, the .625 hitting percentage marks a new personal best by a wide margin, outpacing a .318 showing Olivarez put together against Southeastern Louisiana last season.

UP NEXT
The Red & Gray remain home for the next two matches, hosting in-state rival Northwestern State on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. before turning attention to New Orleans next Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
