Taylor repeats as CoSIDA All-Academic selection

CoSIDA All-Academic Teams

THIBODAUX, La. -
Nicholls State University senior running back Dontrell Taylor has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV First Team for the second straight year, as the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday afternoon its academic teams for Division I football.

With the selection, Taylor becomes a nominee for Academic All-America® honors, which includes players at the FBS and FCS levels. The prestigious academic squads will be revealed in December.

Taylor posts a 3.72 grade-point average as a petroleum services - safety technology major. He was named semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's William V. Campbell Trophy and has earned Southland All-Academic twice in his career.

A native of White Castle, Louisiana, Taylor had his best game of 2019 in the Colonels' win over rival Northwestern State as he rushed for 52 yards and a career-high three touchdowns. Taylor has totaled 164 all-purpose yards in limited playing time this season due to injuries.

Despite missing half of the season so far, Taylor ranks eighth all-time in program history with 1,969 yards rushing. He set school records last season with a 7.2 yard per carry average and nine career 100-yard games.
