THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University head football coach Tim Rebowe announced the signing of seven student-athletes as part of the December signing period for the upcoming 2020 season.
 
Rebowe continued to recruit Louisiana as six of the seven signees are natives of the state. Three are local high school standouts - linebacker Johmel Jolla Jr. (Geismar/Dutchtown), offensive lineman Evan Roussel (Gramercy/St. Charles Catholic), and running back Corey Warren Jr. (Pearl River/Pearl River HS); three are FBS transfers - wide receiver Tevin Bush (New Orleans/West Virginia), defensive lineman Jamiran James (New Orleans/Tulane), and wide receiver Devonta Jason (New Orleans/Mississippi State); and offensive lineman Baylee Trusty (Grenada, Miss.) is a junior college transfer from East Mississippi Community College. 
 
Nicholls is coming off its second straight Southland Conference championship and third consecutive appearance in the FCS playoffs. While the Colonels graduated 22 seniors, five All-Southland selections are set to return including offensive lineman of the year P.J. Burkhalter, and first-team honorees - wide receiver Dai'Jean Dixon, running back Julien Gums, and safety Kevin Moore III. 
 
The full signing class will be revealed on Wednesday, February 5.
