THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball squad will commence the 2019 season with a three-game series against Southern Illinois University on Ben Meyer Diamond at Didier Field. The Friday contest is scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday at noon.
Concession specials include a $6 fried fish combo on Friday, 2 for $5 beer and gumbo on Saturday and $1 hot dogs on Sunday. Fans will also be treated to two new specialty items, the Bobby-D Burger and D-Ham Dog, which will cost $8 apiece for a combo that includes chips and a drink.
All three contests will be streamed via YouTube Live.

"Coach [Ken] Henderson is certainly excited about his team," Nicholls head baseball coach
Seth Thibodeaux said. "He's got a couple of transfers in that are eligible to play right away this year, one is a hitter and one is a pitcher. He likes what he has returning. With a lot of returners – a lot of returners on the mound – they are a confident baseball team. They are coming down hungry, to compete and to take a series from us at our place. The challenge is definitely there. We're excited about the challenge."
The Colonels return four positional starters, including Preseason All-SLC First Team senior
Ethan Valdez, and seven pitchers to a team that last season reached its first SLC Tournament semifinal since 2011. The Salukis, known for their speed, ranked fourth in Division I in steals last season.
