THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team's historic campaign is not over yet, as the Colonels accepted an invitation to participate in the 10th annual Women's Basketball Invitational, marking back-to-back postseason appearances for the Colonels.
Nicholls, which made its first-ever postseason last year in the NCAA Tournament, is one of 16 teams playing in the WBI. They will open up at Southern Miss at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 21. The winner will advance to play North Alabama or Georgia State.
The Colonels are 20-11 on the season, winning 20 games for the first time in program history. Nicholls saw its seven-game winning streak snapped in the quarterfinals of the Southland Conference Tournament against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Southern Miss is 17-13 after falling in their conference tournament opener against North Texas.
