THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University baseball team will play its first ranked opponent of the season as the Colonels take on No. 7 LSU Wednesday night in Alex Box Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The game will also mark the Colonels' 2019 debut on ESPN Radio New Orleans 100.3 FM. Along with the radio broadcast, the matchup will be aired on SEC Network+.
Nicholls is 11-10 on the season after winning the series finale at Central Arkansas, 2-1. The Colonels received another strong performance by the pitching staff, which heads to Baton Rouge ranked 40th in the NCAA in earned run average at 3.23.
Parker White is scheduled to start against the Tigers. White is 2-2 on the season with a 2.19 ERA. He has thrown the third most innings for the Colonels (24.2 IP) and is second in strikeouts with 27.
Brady Bell heads the lineup with a .346 batting average. He has 28 hits with three going for extra bases, highlighted by a grand slam. Austin France and Dane Simon also have over 20 hits, batting .309 on the season. Simon is hitting .406 in his last six games, helped by three multi-hit efforts.
LSU (15-5) is coming off a sweep in conference play against Kentucky. The Tigers lead the all-time series against the Colonels, 54-23. LSU won the last meeting in 2018, 10-1, in Baton Rouge, while the last Colonel win was a 6-3 victory at Alex Box Stadium in 2015.
