THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University football team's 2019 season opener at Kansas State on Saturday, August, 31 will kickoff at 6 p.m. central on ESPN+, as the Big 12 Conference announced Thursday morning its start times for the first three weeks.
The meeting will be the first between the programs and marks the second straight year Nicholls will open its season in the state of Kansas. The Colonels defeated the Jayhawks of KU in overtime, 26-23, to begin their 2018 championship campaign.
Nicholls is coming off a 9-4 season and its first Southland Conference championship since 2005. The Colonels reached the FCS playoffs in back-to-back seasons, winning in the first round last year before falling to national runner-up Eastern Washington.
