THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University football's Chase Fourcade added another preseason honor to his resume as the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) named the senior quarterback to its FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy watch list.
 
Fourcade was named to the watch list as a junior last year as he led Nicholls to a conference championship. On the year, he threw for 2,930 yards and 21 touchdowns, while adding 13 touchdowns on the ground and 659 yards rushing. 
 
Fourcade went on a hot streak following the bye week in 2018, completing over 67 percent of his passes in four times in the five-game winning streak. He connected on 80 percent or better in back-to-back wins over UIW and HBU, threw for a season-high 337 yards in the playoff win over San Diego.
 
Earlier this summer, Fourcade was placed on the STATS FCS Walter Payton Award watch list and was a HERO Sports Preseason All-America Third Team selection.
 
The 2019 CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy is a 22-inch K-9 optic crystal tower with eight-inch crystal football on top. All FCS players are eligible for the award. The award winner will be announced January 15, 2020.
