LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Late Thursday afternoon, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the inaugural 191 recipients of the Voting Community Award, naming both the Nicholls State University indoor & beach volleyball programs as honorees. The recently created accolade distinguishes volleyball clubs and programs nationwide where 100 percent of eligible student-athletes and staff voted in the 2020 November election.

The award was started to encourage eligible coaches and student-athletes to exercise their civic duty through participation in the democratic process. Overall, NCAA women's Division I led the way with 96 programs qualifying.

The AVCA Community Voting Award will be offered again in November 2022, the next national election day.
