THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team will head on the road to take on the University of Alabama on Wednesday, December 16. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will air on SEC Network+.
 
The addition is one of two adjustments to the schedule for this week. Nicholls was slated to play at Southern Miss on Monday, but it was pushed back a few days to Friday.
 
Wednesday's matchup will mark the second all-time meeting against Alabama. Nicholls fell to the Crimson Tide in 2011, 72-51. 
 
The Colonels (1-3) will be looking for their first road win of the season after losses at Tulane and South Alabama. Nicholls is coming off a 75-60 setback at home on Friday against Jackson State.
 
After four games, junior guard Chyna Allen leads the offense at 12.5 points per game. She scored 15 points in back-to-back outings before totaling a career-high 18 against JSU. Sophomore Chelsea Cain is also averaging double figures at 11.5 ppg, highlighted by a career-high 16 points in the opener at Tulane.
 
Alabama is undefeated so far this season, posting a 5-0 mark with its last win coming against Mercer on Sunday. The Tide was scheduled to play Southland member Sam Houston State last week but the game was canceled.  
 
Alabama features a pair of 6-foot-3 players – Jasmine Walker and Ariyah Copeland. Walker, an All-SEC selection last year, is averaging 21.2 points and 9.6 rebounds after five games. One of her best outings this season was a 24-point game in the win over Oklahoma State where she made six 3-pointers. Copeland is close behind at 18.8 points and 8.8 rebounds.
