FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State University senior
Chrystal Ezechukwu has been named Southland Conference and College Sports Madness Mid-Major Player of the Week, the organizations announced Monday afternoon.
Ezechukwu, a forward from Decatur, Georgia, is the second Colonel to earn a weekly award this season joining sophomore
Loan-Anh Johnson who earned Southland POW on Jan. 13.
Nicholls played only one game last week and took down rival McNeese behind a career-high 35 points by Ezechukwu. She connected on 14 of 22 from the field and 7 of 8 at the free throw line to best her previous career-high of 25 points set last weekend in New Orleans. Ezechukwu grabbed seven rebounds in the win, had three assists with no turnovers, and added one steal and one block.
Ezechukwu's 35 points were the most by any player in the Southland this season. The outing increased her scoring average in conference games to 16.5 ppg, which ranks second in the league.
