THIBODAUX, La. - A total of 42 Nicholls State University student-athletes officially graduated on Saturday, earning their degrees during the University's virtual commencement.
With the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, the traditional commencement was postponed and the 102nd version was conducted online through the University's streaming platforms.
Football had nine graduates for the spring. The graduates for the Southland Conference two-time defending championship squad included three-time Southland All-Academic selection Dontrell Taylor, and Khristian Mims, who also earned all-academic this season.
Eight Colonel Baseball players graduated on Saturday, including Adam Tarver who earned a degree in finance.
Women's Soccer had six graduates, highlighted by Southland All-Academic selection, Blaire Laiche, who received her degree in biology-pre med. Women's Basketball totaled four graduates. Airi Hamilton received her second degree after graduating with her first in the '19 spring.
Samantha Mracich was one of three softball players to graduate. Along with ranking in the top 10 all-time in batting average, she received a nursing degree.
The cheer squad had four graduates, followed by men's basketball (3), track and tennis with two each, and volleyball's lone graduate was Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President Emily Venable.
