Colonels voted 10th in Southland VB Preseason Poll

FRISCO, Texas -- The Southland Conference tabbed the Nicholls State University women's volleyball program 10th in the the league's 2020 Preseason Poll, per a release Wednesday afternoon from the conference office. The poll is voted upon by the league's head coaches and sports information departments.

The Colonels received 88 points in total, ranking 31 points off No. 9 New Orleans. Once again, reigning Southland Champion Stephen F. Austin led the league with 16 first-place votes and 276 total points while Sam Houston (eight first-place votes, 266 points) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (two first-place votes, 238 points) rounded out the top three.

The Red & Gray are set to open the 2020 season within the month, facing Southern Miss on Jan. 28 in Hattiesburg, Miss.; exactly one week later, Nicholls will proceed to Southland Conference play on Thursday, Feb. 4, hosting rival New Orleans in Stopher Gym.
