A native of Houma and graduate of Vandebilt Catholic, Gauthreaux has a 3.81 GPA in allied health. Bright and Gauthreaux are the first Colonel volleyball student-athletes to earn all-academic since 2016.
Bright finished fourth on the team in scoring, kills and aces, and was also third in blocks. She had a double-double in the league opener against New Orleans with a season-high 18 kills while adding 12 digs.
Gauthreaux, who also earned All-Southland Second Team, ranked fifth in the Southland in kills and points and was seventh in aces. She posted double figures in kills nine times, highlighted by 24 in a four-set win vs. Northwestern State.
The all-academic teams are voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic advisors from each Southland Conference institution. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition in order to qualify for the all-academic squad.
First Team All-Conference student-athletes who meet all-academic nomination criteria are automatically named First Team All-Academic honorees.
