Colonels head to Hammond to battle SLU

THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team returns to the road to take on Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. The game will air on ESPN+.

Nicholls will be carrying a six-game winning streak in the series against Southeastern following its 76-63 win over the Lady Lions on Jan. 9 in Thibodaux. The Colonels were led to victory by Chelsea Cain, who had one of her best games of the season with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Adrian Mann also had a season-high 19 points in the win.

Cain upped her scoring average on the season to 16.5 points following a 27-point outing in the overtime win over Lamar on Wednesday. The Prairieville native is second in the Southland Conference in scoring while ranking third in rebounding.

The loss to Nicholls started a three-game skid for Southeastern Louisiana (6-6, 5-4 SLC), but the Lady Lions have since turned it around with wins in three of their last four contests. SLU had two blowout wins over Northwestern State and New Orleans, then took down Sam Houston on a last-second shot by Caitlyn Williams.

SLU is led on offense by Morgan Carrier at 14.0 points per game. She is coming off back-to-back 13-point games following a career-high 25 against Central Arkansas where she accounted for nearly half of SLU's points in the 60-54 loss to the Sugar Bears.
