FRISCO, Texas – After claiming the regular season batting title, Nicholls State University softball freshman shortstop
Ashlyn Reavis has been named All-Southland Third Team, as the league office announced Monday its 2021 postseason honors.
A native of Paris, Texas, Reavis ended the season with a 10-game hitting streak to finish with a .424 batting average, which is the third highest mark for a single-season in program history. She is also in exclusive company as only five Colonels have ever hit .400 for a season.
In her rookie campaign, Reavis started all 40 games and racked up 50 hits with seven doubles, two triples and 11 RBIs. She also led Nicholls with 20 runs scored and 18 multi-hit games. Defensively, Reavis ranked second in the Southland with 109 assists at shortstop.
Reavis posted a .395 batting average in SLC play, helped by a pair of three-hit outings. Her average ranked fourth best in the league as she totaled 32 hits in the 40 games.
