THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University football's
P.J. Burkhalter and
Dai'Jean Dixon have been named to the 2020-21 Phil Steele FCS All-America teams, the organization announced Thursday.
Burkhalter received second-team honors while Dixon landed on third team. The duo made up two of the Southland Conference's 15 selections on the three-team squad.
An offensive lineman, Burkhalter added another all-American honor after helping the offense to the No. 3 rushing attack in the FCS. A native of Franklinton, Burkhalter was the recipient of five all-American honors this season, in addition to repeating as Southland Offensive Lineman of the Year.
A wide receiver from New Orleans, Dixon garnered his first national recognition for the spring season after finishing with 514 yards receiving and seven touchdowns. Dixon posted a record-breaking campaign where he became the Colonels' all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.
2021 SEASON OPENER
The Colonels will begin the season on Sept. 4 at Memphis with their home opener slated for Sept. 25.
