THIBODAUX, La.  – Nicholls State University head football coach Tim Rebowe and senior offensive linemen P.J. Burkhalter and Jair Joseph will partake in the 2021 Southland Football Media Day, held on Thursday, July 22 at the Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria.
 
Press conferences and student-athlete interviews will air live on ESPN+ beginning at 10 a.m. CT. The show will be hosted by Southland announcers Randy McIlvoy and Madi Morris.
 
The day will open with comments from Commissioner Tom Burnett, followed by 25-minute interviews with each school's head coach and two student-athletes. Nicholls' session is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
 
In addition to the press conferences, coaches and student-athletes will participate in the Southland Social Media Suite where they will produce content that can be seen across the league's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
 
Coach Rebowe is in his seventh year as head coach of the Colonels. After rebuilding the program his first two seasons, Nicholls has posted a winning record in the last four campaigns. In addition to making the FCS playoffs from 2017-19, the Red and Gray claimed the Southland title in '18 and '19. 
 
Burkhalter and Joseph pave the way for one of the top rushing attacks in the FCS, which finished ranked No. 3 in the nation in the spring. Both were named All-Southland First Team and Burkhalter is the reigning back-to-back Southland Offensive Lineman of the Year. He has also earned five All-American honors in each of the previous two seasons.

The 2021 preseason poll will be announced Thursday, July 22, to kick off Southland Football Media Day around 9 a.m.

Season tickets for Nicholls football are available by visiting geauxcolonels.com or calling the Nicholls Ticket Office at 985-448-4790. The home opener is slated for Sept. 25 against North Alabama. The Colonels are scheduled to report to camp on Thursday, Aug. 5.
