THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University football team will wrap up fall camp with its second scrimmage, set for 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20 at Manning Field at John L. Guidry Stadium.
With classes starting Monday, the team shifted its practice schedule to the afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The final scrimmage was originally scheduled for this Saturday before being moved to Friday night.
In last weekend's scrimmage, the team ran around 90 situation and special teams plays. With the season just over two weeks away, the final scrimmage will focus more on live plays and game-like scenarios. The team will then turn its attention to its opening opponent, the Memphis Tigers.
Nicholls begins its season against two FBS programs, Memphis (Sept. 4) and nationally-ranked Louisiana (Sept. 11), before returning to Thibodaux for their home debut on Sept. 25 against North Alabama. The matchup against UNA kicks off a stretch of three consecutive home games at Guidry Stadium, where the Colonels are 19-3 over the last four seasons.
