THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team (3-4) will host New Mexico on Tuesday, November 29, at 5 p.m. inside Stopher Gym.

The Colonels are coming off an action-packed week. The Colonels played a three-game slate that included a road game at Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday, November 22, and then two games at the 35th annual Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic, where they battled host Southern Miss and won a rematch 84-74 over MVSU on November 25 and 26 in Hattiesburg.
Junior guard 
Kyla Hamilton was named Southland Conference Player of the Week after averaging 15.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. She also remained efficient, shooting 47.2 percent from the field on 36 field goal attempts and shooting 8-15 (53.3%) from behind the arc.
In the Colonels' two games in Hattiesburg, she averaged 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists to be named to the All-Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic Team.
In the previous game, the Colonels had four individuals have standout performances and combine for 78 points and account for all 11 3-pointers, which is the most the program has hit since 2017 to snap a four-game losing streak.
In the victorious effort over MVSU, Hamilton played all 40 minutes, poured in 20 points, snagged a career-high nine boards, and dished out five assists.
Also stuffing the stat sheet was sophomore guard 
Amelia Sandie, who recorded a career-high 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists. She was efficient with her scoring, hitting six of seven field goals, two of three from long range, and six of nine from the charity stripe.
Sophomore forward 
Deonna Brister had a career day, hitting seven out of 11 field goals, including two triples to record her first career double-double finishing the contest with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Senior guard 
Traya Bruce set the tone of the game by scoring eight of the first 11 points for the Red & Gray and finished the first half with 16 points. Bruce hit the most 3-pointers (4) and finished the contest with a career-high 18 points.
Hamilton now averages 12 points, 2.7 assists, and 5.7 rebounds and Sandie now averages 8.1 points, while Brister brings her averages to 10.6 points and 7.1 rebounds, and Bruce now scores 7.1 points per game.
Lexi Alexander averages double figures (10.7 ppg) and a team-high 8.6 boards per game after week that included a 16-point outburst against USM and a 10-rebound performance against MVSU.
UNM has three players that average double-figure points per game. Shaiquel McGruder leads the Lobos in points (13.8), rebounds (7,5), steals, and blocks (2.8) per game.
LaTora Duff averages 13.6 points per game and dishes out 5.6 assists and two steals, while LaTascya Duff averages 11.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game.
The Lobos has a 4.5 scoring margin and posts a stout defense that is currently eighth in blocks per game (6.2) and 11th in the nation in steals per contest (13.7).
