THIBODAUX, La – Nicholls State University volleyball sophomore
Kadie Becnel has been named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
From her libero position, she accumulated 53 digs, six service aces, and had just three reception errors in 41 attempts to help the Colonels go on a three-game winning streak.
In Nicholls' first victory at Lamar, the Thibodaux native finished the contest with a career-high 23 digs, and a reception percentage of .929 after having just one error in 14 attempts.
In the second victory of the week at Texas A&M-Commerce, she posted a perfect reception percentage on 10 attempts and tallied 13 digs.
In the Colonels' first home conference win of the season, she logged 17 digs and posted a .882 after having two errors on 17 serve receptions.
In the win at Lamar Becnel anchored the defense that allowed its lowest hitting percentage in conference play this season (.125).

The Colonels wrap up SLC regular season play with home matches against UNO on Thursday, November 10, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday, November 12.
