FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State University infielder
Garrett Felix has been named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, Felix had an impressive week at the plate in the Colonels' four games, batting .667 with eight hits and five going for doubles. He also drove in four runs, scored three times, and had three walks.
Felix started the week with back-to-back three-hit games which included four doubles, then had a hit and two RBIs in Saturday's win over ULM. He ended the week with a double and a walk against the Warhawks in the series finale.
Felix is the first Colonel this season to notch a baseball weekly award. The Acadiana alum is batting .448 this season with 13 hits and six RBIs in 11 games.
ON DECK
Nicholls will head to New Orleans Wednesday for a midweek matchup against Tulane. The Green Wave defeated the Colonels earlier this season in Thibodaux, 7-5. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
