FRISCO, Texas – Nicholls State University senior guard
Chyna Allen has been named All-Southland Second Team, as the league office announced Tuesday its 2021-22 postseason women's basketball awards.
A native of Gulfport, Mississippi, Allen ranked fifth in the Southland in scoring at 13.3 points per game. She had a string of 11 straight games of double-digit scoring efforts and had 20 or more points in two different games.
In the road game at McNeese, Allen posted a career outing with 25 points to go along with six rebounds, four steals and three assists. She finished in the Top 10 in the league in steals as well, averaging 1.6 per game.
All-conference teams and individual awards are nominated and voted upon by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors. Voting for oneself or one's own players/coaches is not permitted.

The opening round of play at the 2022 Southland Conference Women's Basketball Tournament tips off Thursday Thursday, March 10, at 11 a.m. CT with game one between No. 8-seed Nicholls and No. 5-seed UIW. The Colonels and the Cardinals split in the regular season, with each team winning at home.
Each of the tournament's preliminary rounds will be broadcast on ESPN+. Sunday's championship matchup will be televised at 1 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
