FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State University men's basketball Tyrease Terrell has been named Southland All-Academic Second Team, as the league office announced Thursday morning it 2021-22 academic basketball honors.

A native of Slidell, Louisiana, Terrell posted a 3.27 grade-point average as a marketing major. On the court, he appeared in 19 games and averaged 5.8 minutes for the back-to-back regular season champion Colonels. He saw a season-high 18 minutes in the Southland Tip-Off Event victory over UIW where he had three points, two assists and a steal. Terrell also played double-figure minutes at No. 3 Purdue, totaling three assists and one 3-pointer. 

Terrell started one game this season against Utah Valley in the SoCal Challenge. His season high of 10 points came in a victory against Carver College.

The 10-member squad featured one automatic selection. UIW's Josh Morgan was selected as student-athlete of the year. Teams are selected by a vote by the league's coaches, academic personnel, and sports information directors.
