THIBODAUX, La. – On Monday, the United States Marine Corps and the Volleyball Coaches Association announced that Nicholls State University and more than 1,200 collegiate and high school volleyball teams earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award. The award honors volleyball squads that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

The Colonel's indoor team earned the distinction for their efforts in the classroom leading to the unit having a cumulative GPA of 3.352.

Nicholls head coach Kallie Noble spoke about how proud she is of her student-athletes.

"I'm excited about the teams earning such a high honor for their work off the court," Noble said. "It takes so much dedication and hard work being a student-athlete and to see them rewarded for their efforts is amazing."
