FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference announced Thursday its 2022 Women's Volleyball Preseason Poll, and the Nicholls State University Colonels were projected to finish eighth, receiving 50 total points.
Nicholls took eighth out of 10 teams, finishing ahead of New Orleans (46) and Lamar (33). Defending league champion Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (157) beat out HBU (151) for the top spot. Also claiming over 100 points were Southeastern (125) and McNeese (95). The three teams picked to finish ahead of the Colonels were UIW (95), Northwestern State (83), and SLC and Division I newcomer Texas A&M-Commerce (54).
Head Coach
Kallie Noble is going into her fourth season at the helm for the Red & Gray. She made changes to the roster bringing in nine new players and a new assistant coach
Josh Comer for the '22 campaign.
The Colonel's regular season begins on Aug. 26-27 where they will compete in the Tiger Brawl, hosted by the University of Memphis before returning home to host the Colonel Classic on Sept. 2-3.
The Southland Conference preseason poll is voted on by each school's head coach and soccer sports information director. Each voter ranks their predicted order of regular-season finish, not including their own team. First-place votes are worth eight points, second-place votes are worth seven, and so on to one point for eighth place.
