THIBODAUX, La - The Nicholls State cross country teams battled in a loaded field this Friday at the Arturo Barrios Invite, hosted by Texas A&M University in College Station Texas.
The meet included 40 teams including Nicholls. The women's 6k had 385 racers and there were 365 male participants for the 8k.
Freshman
Kassidy Besson was the only runner for the women's side to finish in the top 200. Besson finished in 173rd place with a time of 21:50, beating 20 other Southland conference runners. The next Colonel to cross the finish line was
Sophia Harrison, finishing in 305th place with a time of 23:16. Freshman,
Issy Rivault was the third runner to finish with a time of 23:22 to earn 311st.
In the men's 8k,
Goran Duijsters was the first Coloenl to cross the finish line for the men's unit in a time of 26:34 to earn himself 309th. The next Colonel to complete the course was
Lucas Futey who finished in 28:16 to claim 327th place. The next for the Red and Grey to finish was
Avery Morgan, coming in 351st place with a time of 28:16. He was followed closely by teammate
Thomas Saunders who finished 352nd place with a time of 28:22.
Overall, both the men and women finished in 39th place in their respective competitions.

The Colonels will head back to Texas for the Southland Conference XC Championship on Friday, Oct. 27.
