Rebowe, Lovelace named to national watch lists

THIBODAUX, La. - Stats Perform announced Monday two of its FCS national watch lists and Nicholls State University head football coach Tim Rebowe was a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award (Coach), while defensive lineman Rasheed Lovelace made the list for the Jerry Rice Award (Freshman). Both watch lists are presented by FedEx Ground.

In his ninth season, Rebowe led Nicholls to the program's first outright Southland Conference title and third overall during his tenure. The Colonels won all but one league game by double figures, outscoring opponents 33.2 points per game to 16.0 ppg. Nicholls is set to make its fourth playoff appearance in last seven years.

Started at nose tackle as a redshirt freshman, Lovelace had 25 tackles with 2.5 for loss and 0.5 sacks. He recorded his first career interception in win over Lamar and his best game statistically was in the 27-7 win at Texas A&M-Commerce where he had six tackles and his half sack.

The Robinson Award, first presented in 1987 and in its 37th season, is named for legendary Grambling State coach Eddie Robinson. The Rice Award, first presented in 2011 and now in its 13th season, is named after legendary wide receiver Jerry Rice, who starred at Mississippi Valley State as part of his Hall of Fame career.
