TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Nicholls State University baseball's
Garrett Felix and starting pitcher
Jacob Mayers were named to the Tuscaloosa Regional All-Tournament Team as the 11-member squad was announced late Sunday night.
Felix, a junior from Scott, Louisiana, did most of his damage with a 4-for-5 outing at the plate in Saturday's game against Boston College. He singled three times and scored a run before hitting a solo home run in the ninth inning. Although he did not have a hit in Friday's outing versus Alabama, Felix reached base once on a walk.
Mayers picked up a no-decision in his start on the mound against the host Crimson Tide, striking out eight batters in 5.2 innings. He held Alabama hitless through four innings before leaving the game in the sixth with two earned runs allowed on three hits. The Gonzales, Louisiana native eclipsed the 100-strikeout mark on the year and finished with the fourth-most (105) strikeouts in program history for a single season.
The team was voted on by media members at the regional. Mayers was one of three unanimous selections along with regional MVP Joe Vetrano (Boston College) and Alabama's Andrew Pinckney.Â
