THIBODAUX, La. - Nicholls State University head cross country coach Stefanie Slekis announced Wednesday the 2023 cross country schedule, highlighted by the 5th Annual Nicholls XC Invitational hosted as the Nicholls Farm.

After opening the season at New Orleans (Sept. 1) and LSU (Sept. 15), the Colonels wrap up September with their annual home meet on Saturday, Sept. 30. Nicholls will host the invitational at the Nicholls Farm, which was the site of the 2022 Southland Conference Championship. 

"We are thrilled to be hosting our 5th Annual Nicholls XC Invitational at the Nicholls Farm," Coach Slekis said. "This course was a huge success for the 2022 Southland Conference Championships over the 6k and 8k distances and we are excited to have teams back to race our 5k and 4 Mile race distances with Southeastern and Southern already confirmed to attend the University portion. This event continues to grow each year and we are looking forward to adding more high school teams and community participants to this year's morning of races out at the Nicholls Farm."

Following the home meet, the Colonels will close out the regular season at Texas A&M's Arturo Barrios Invitational (Oct. 13) for the third straight season. This year's SLC Championships will be held on Oct. 27 at San Antonio.
