FRISCO, Texas – The Nicholls State women's basketball team will compete in an 18-game Southland Conference schedule as the league office announced Tuesday morning its 2023-24 SLC Basketball schedules.

The SLC is using a different schedule format this season. Instead of two days of double headers, the men will play a standalone game on Monday nights, the women will play on Thursday nights, and Saturday will remain a double header.

The Colonels are entering the first season under head coach Justin Payne, and will play a home-and-home slate against all nine SLC teams.

Nicholls will open SLC play at home against rival Southeastern on Thursday, Jan.4. The Colonels are the only SLC team that closes the regular season with three consecutive road games, finishing with contests at Northwestern State, McNeese, and Southeastern.

The Southland Conference Women's Basketball Tournament will begin on Monday, March 11 and is hosted by McNeese. Also, in Lake Charles, the Southland Conference Basketball Media Days is set for Oct. 10.

All conference games will be featured on ESPN+ throughout the season.
