BATON ROUGE, La - The Nicholls State University Track and Field teams began the 2024 indoor season last Friday, competing in the LSU Purple Tiger at the Carl Maddox Field House.
For the women's side, freshman
Maria Nikolaou had a strong debut as she placed fifth in the women's 600-meter race with a time of 1:38.27. Her classmate
Sophia Harrison also impressed in her first track competition as a Colonel as she came ninth in the women's 800-meter in a time of 2:39.88.
In the women's 400-meter,
Coren Casborn had the eighth best time (1:13.32), while
Muonie Pickens posted a time of 28.61 to place seventh in the women's 200-meter race.
On the men's side, another freshman had a strong debut for the Red & Gray in the men's 200-meters.
Michael "Trey" Crawford finished fourth in the race in a time of 24.04, followed closely by his fellow freshman teammate
Khalil Lewis who finished in 24.08 (5th).
The Colonels also had strong performances in the 400-meter race.
Kamren Washington placed seventh with a time of 53.77 followed by
Nick Coonan-Bailey and Nisaiah Bennett who finished eighth and ninth (53.82).
In the men's 600-meter race,
Goran Duijsters posted a time of 1:23.92 to place seventh.
