THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University cross country teams competed in the 2024 NCAA South Central Regional Championships in College Station, Texas on Friday morning.
The women's 6k featured 33 schools and more than 200 competitors while the men's 10k included 32 schools and 194 total racers. The women's squad placed 28th while the men's unit placed 25th.
The first two Colonels to finish the 6k course was sophomores
Issy Rivault (22:15.9) and
Maria Nikolaou (22:16.0) who placed 126th and 127th.
Kassidy Besson ran the course in 23 minutes to claim 165th while Isabelle Seijlhouwer (23:43.2) and
Elaina Hansen (23:57.6) placed 184th and 190th.
Avery Guidry (24:23.1) and
Ana Letran Cartes (25.01.9) finished 196th and 199th to round out the scoring.
On the men's side,
Lucas Futey (33:25.9) placed 146th in his final race as a Colonel.
William Nizzo (35:12.8),
Goran Duijsters (35:29.8), and
Caleb Williams (35:54.4) were the next three Colonels to finish to claim 170th, 172nd, and 176th place, respectively.
Wesley O'Neal (39:10.6) placed 182nd to round out the scoring.
