THIBODAUX, La. – After picking up a win in the home opener a week ago, the Nicholls State University women's basketball team will welcome Alcorn State University to Stopher Gymnasium on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Last week the Colonels improved to 2-1 after taking down Grambling under interesting circumstances. After falling behind by two at the break (30-28) the Colonels shot 14-22 (63%) from the field in the second half to run away from the Tigers.
The surge was led by SLC Player of the Week
Tanita Swift who hit seven of nine field attempts and was 8-11 from the charity stripe to score a game-high 22 points. Sophomore forward
Britiya Curtis hit five field goals including two triples and seven shots from the charity stripe to finish with 19 points. Senior forward
Deonna Brister hit three shots from beyond the arc as she finished with 13 points.
Elli Garnett scored nine points and hauled in a game high nine boards.
UP NEXT
After hosting the Lady Braves the Colonels will hit the road to play Louisiana in Lafayette on Friday at 6 p.m.
