THIBODAUX, La. -- After picking up their third consecutive win of the season, the Nicholls State University women's basketball team will make the short trip to Lafayette to take on Louisiana on Friday, Nov. 22. Tipoff from the Cajundome will begin at 6 p.m.
Earlier in the week the Colonels improved to 3-1 on the season with a 19-point victory over Alcorn. The win was spearheaded by Southland Conference Player of the Week
Tanita Swift who poured in a career high 28 points. She shot 9-17 from the field and 10-13 from the charity stripe while stuffing the stat sheet with eight boards, five assists, and four steals.
Additionally in the win,
Deonna Brister hit a pair of triples and a layup to score eight of her 12 points in the third and matched Swifts team high eight rebounds.
Britiya Curtis finished the game with nine points while
Malaya Jones scored eight as a spark off the bench.
The Red & Gray also won the turnover and rebound margin by 10 and seven enroute to scoring 25 points off turnovers and 15 second chance points. So far this season, the Colonels rank 47th nationally in turnovers forced and have the 74th best 3-point percentage.
Swift ranks 23rd out of 240 nationally and second in the SLC in steals per game (3.25) while
Jesslynn Jalomo has been sharp shooters as she rank 21st nationally and second in the SLC in 3-point percentage (55.6).
