Final Stats THIBODAUX, La. – Sophomore pitcher Jacob Mayers threw six scoreless innings in the Nicholls State University baseball team's 12-0 victory over Southern on Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field on Friday night.
 
In his longest outing of the season, Mayers fanned eight and only allowed two hits to earn his first win of the season. Nick Fields came in and forced two ground outs and one fly out to finish the job in the seventh.
 
The sixth inning was Nicholls' most productive as they took advantage of Jaguar mistakes to score five runs on two hits. After three Colonels received free passes, Kaden Amundson plated two runs with a single. Parker Coddou added a run via a sacrifice fly and Amundson scored by way of a Garrett Felix base hit.
 
The Colonels' scoring began in the second frame when MaCrae Kendrick laced a two RBI triple to right field. Kendrick later scored on a sacrifice bunt by Amundson. In the third, Basiel Williams hit an RBI single.
 
Edgar Alvarez and Aaron Biediger combined for three RBI in the fifth. Biediger smashed a two-run homer just inside the third base foul pole and Alvarez plated one with a single up the middle.
