THIBODAUX, La – After picking up a weekend sweep in Houston, the Nicholls State University baseball team will play midweek road games against in-state foes LSU (April 23) and LA Tech (April 24).
The action from Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on SECN+, while the contest from J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park in Ruston will begin at 6 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
Last week, Nicholls (24-14, 10-5 SLC) picked up three wins in a series sweep over HCU and dropped a midweek game at Southern Miss. LSU (25-16, 5-3 SEC) enters the matchup after also winning three of their last four contests starting with a win over UNO followed by a road series victory at Missouri. LA Tech (29-13, 8-4 CUSA) enters the week after winning a series at No. 25 Dallas Baptist and a midweek win against ULM.
The last time the Colonels played at LSU, the Tigers were ranked No.1 in the nation and had won four straight games against the Red & Gray. Nicholls stunned the Tigers to end the slide and earn the fifth win in the series dating back to 2008.
Earlier this season in Thibodaux, the Colonels rally fell short to the Bulldogs who took the 6-4 victory. The road team has won the last two matchups as Nicholls shut out LA Tech (8-0) in the series finale of last season's meeting in Ruston.
Nicholls has one of the most efficient and productive offenses in the nation.
